Here a man who had deceived his people and turned thousands of young men and women to butchers and caused death and destruction on a massive scale while enjoying the company of his family. The people had to struggle to make ends meet while LTTE leaders enjoyed the unbelievable luxury of having a swim in high security zones set up in the Wanni East in the midst of fighting. Had they been aware of the lifestyle of their so-called 'liberator' who was nothing more than a glorified bandit, they would have banished him before the Army fought its way into the last LTTE stronghold - a thin ribbon of coastal land in the Mullaittivu District. The photographs of P'Karan, his wife Madivadini, children and some of his top 'commander' bare evidence of the luxurious life they had led as thousands of forcibly recruited children were thrown into battle. While, the recovery of millions of USD worth militrya hardware bared the extent of the LTTE overseas procurement network, the photographs of a smiling psyco shed light on the life of the man and his chief followers. While, denying the tamil speaking people of the Northern and Eastern provinces even the basic facilities in the name of waging a liberation struggle, the gang of baby-faced killers and their families had lived a life of luxury. The funds raised by the overseas extremist Tamils for the acquisition of armaments, too have been definitely utilized by the LTTe leadership for their personal use. The 'uniformed' men serving Prabakara's family and he wearing a camouflaged uniform with a beret similar to the one warn by troops deployed under the UN command revealed the mentality of a demented Prabakaran who cleverly exploited the weakness of his people, the extremist overseas Tamils and an international community to his advantage. The bottom line is that the well-fed LTTE leader had never experienced the true horrors of war. Although LTTE propagandists had propagated the lie that every big battle was spearheaded by Prabakaran, the man seemed to have lived a cushy life. Had the LTTE terrorists had a half chance to destroy evidence of Prabakaran's duplicity as it rapidly retreated on the Wanni front before being surrounded by the Army on the Mullaittivu coast, a one-time hunting ground of the LTTE, Prabakaran would have done it. Had anyone felt that Prabakaran was their man to lead the Sri Lankan Tamils, this was irrefutable evidence that he was nothing more than a fraud. The People, especially the Tamil speaking people should be grateful to the armed forces for exposing Prabakaran thereby unceremoniously ending a life of deception.

There has been a genocide committed against the Tamil people. Discrimination and abuse against the Tamil people will continue and for this reason the Tamil Tigers will continue to breed to fight for their freedom for an Independent State and for the 1000's of people the Singhala Government have murdered. It is sickening the the Singhala can celebrate whilst 1000's of Tamils have been murdered/women raped and Tamils organs have been taken and sold for money. 1000's of Tamil are homeless. Now the Tamils dont have the LTTE to protect they are helpless and the future looks very disturbing but this wont be for long. Until there is an independent state for the Tamils the war is not over.

The report is a load of nonsense and whoever believes this nonsense is very naive! Please do your own research on Prabakaran and the LTTE. There are Tamils all over the world who support Prabakaran/ the LTTE, they are not terrorists but simply "freedom fighters". They were labled as terrorists so the Singhala Government could justifiy their crimes against the Tamil people. The crimes which have been committed by the Singhala Government against the Tamil people will not ever be forgotten or forgiven. There is a very large Tamil community around the world most of whom are highly educated and wealthy... the LTTE may have surrendered for now...but the Tamil children who have seen their parents being murdered their sisters being raped by the Singhala army and having to grow up in a country where there is constant discrimination by the Singhala...will have no choice but to rebel and they will have the support of all the Tamils around the world.

I wonder where in the world you get this !!! Tamils own some of the biggest businesses in colombo & in the south freqeunted by Sinhalese, study in Tamil only schools & all government schools, I have so many friends who want nothing to do with the Tigers. Its these wealthy tamils who live in the west that support this terrorism. Nobody talks of the innocent SriLankans including Tamils in the south mass murdered in the numerous bomb blasts in the south - funny freedom fighters - Tigers STOP this - dont lie about sale of organs & rape - when tigers abused young kids and chopped of their limbs it was the army that saved them. It is not the question of tamils but people who are living in srilanka who speak tamil. Is that a problem with you. I understand your feelings but you people should understand that similar situation has happened in India too. Not a new one but a very old one the muslims in our country are from outside they are not ethinic Indians, but people from afganistan or monglia who came and settled in india ages ago, but when we got our freedom from the british we divided our country and gave them a country of thir own. One cannot ignore people who have been living for ages in your country, this insensitivity is what is leading to these problems. You people are being forced to live in fear in your country. Is this what you people want to achieve. Prabakaran was a result of all the hatred and maltreatment that the minority people received from the majority people. In battle we cannot justify our actions. As a Tamilian I do feel the loss of my leader though I was born and live in a peaceful country called Malaysia. All Jaffna Tamils all over the world will unite not because they want a war but simply because to stand up for their rights. It is in the blood of ever Sri Lankan Tamil. This war has raged on for almost 25 years, a very long time indeed. Perhaps now time will slowly change the perception that all ethnic groups must live in harmony in order to savour the success of the country. Policy of give and take, sharing and caring.
The leaders of Sri Lanka have to be sincere in their endevours to unite the country and be seen as fair and just. No more fghting and killing. It will do no good for anyone.We are all God's creation; why divide ourselves and cause misery. Let us unite and start afresh. It is in the hands of the Government to reconcile and move forward and unite as Sri Lanka and gain the respect of all mankind. I pray that the best is yet to come and may we all wish it so too. I am not a srilankan but I am a tamilian. what on earth you guys know about Srilanka. The first inhabitants of Ceylon was Tamil people who were living with richness and prospering and excelling in everything. Then came this sinhalese who are the backward class of Biharis from India. Having a born in trait of barbarism, they satrted looting and killing tamils.
This is the reality. Prabakaran is one like other million tamils who have the pride in them to live a great life rather than suffering from the slaves from Bihar.
If you call Praba as a terrorist, then you have to call mahatma Gandhi a terrorist, because he also fought for the freedom... He was able to acheive the freedom through ahmisa because he was fighting with British who were HUMANS, but how can you fight through Ahmisa with the barbarians like sinhalese....

United Nation Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, while visiting the largest internment camp in Vavuniyaa, Manik Farm, Saturday for three hours from 9:15 a.m., stressed the need for freedom of movement and immediate resettlement of the more than 300,000 Tamils held in camps. The IDPs also told Ban Ki Moon that they would want the U.N. to take full responsibility for the welfare of the refugees, sources accompanying Moon on his visit said. "The UN has failed in several measures in preventing egregious human rights violations by Sri Lanka against unarmed civilian Tamils during the last several months, and this is the last opportunity to take bold action to repair the damage to UN's reputation. UN should shed its rhetoric on sovereignty and assume full responsibility for the Tamil people," an aid worker told TamilNet after Moon's visit.
The Secretary General was taken to Manik Farm after he arrived by helicopter in Vavuniyaa at Joint Operations camp of the Sri Lankan forces Saturday morning.
The Secretary General, in addition to stressing the freedom movement and the urgency for resettlement, also noted the lack of basic facilities and urged immediate action to improve the conditions inside the internment camps.
The Tamil refugees told the Secretary General that they look to the United Nations to ensure their welfare, and their primary need is to go back to their homes in their own villages.
Reporters who accompanied the Secretary General unexpectedly received some space to talk to the refugees without any attending Government officials, sources said.
The IDPs complained to the reporters that Sri Lanka military, during its harsh filtering process, has separated many children from the parents.
They also complained of that routinely a selected set of refugee personalities coached by the Sri Lanka military engage with the visitors to the camp, pointing to a former Voice of Tigers (VoT) employee, and said they were happy to have had the opportunity to talk to the reporters this time.

I agree with you. It is impossible to achieve peace through gunpoint. Whoever took gun , have perished by the gun. LTTE is the latest example.
In Sri Lanka once tamils starts talkin with the government, and work on give and take policies, then definitely peace is achievable. No doubt about that.
