VESTED INTERESTS BEHIND TIRADE, BABA HAD NO PROPERTIES: TRUST

Puttarthi, April 28 : The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust member, Mr Srinivas, on Thursday alleged that some vested interests were behind the vilification campaign against the Trust.

The Sathya Sai Trust Board members met here today and observed a two-minute silence in memory of the Baba, whose mortal remains were interred in Sai Kulwant Hall in Prashanti Nilayam, before holding a media conference.

Detailing the activities of the Trust, Mr Srinivas told mediapersons that they could not talk to them in view of the deteriorating health condition of the pontiff. Asserting that the financial affairs of the Trust were being carried out as per law of the land, Mr Srinivas said there was no room for any irregularities or violations in the management of financial affairs of the Trust. The financial affairs of the Trust were being looked after by the country’s most efficient and honest chartered accountants.

Asked about differences among the members of the Trust, Mr Srinivas replied in negative and asserted that all the members were united and a decision on selecting the Trust chairman would be taken shortly. He also said that the State government was not prepared to interfere with the affairs of the Trust.

Asked as to why a coffin was ordered in early April even when the Baba was alive, Mr Srinivasan said that the Trust did not give any such order, but a devotee of the Baba has contributed it. On the reported rift between Baba’s personal assistant Satyajit and Baba’s nephew R J Ratnakar, the latter denied the allegation. He also said that the charge that the family members of the Baba were not allowed into the ICU to see the Baba was false and all the kin of the Baba had his darshan in the ICU.

Mr Srinivasan clarified that Satyajit was only an employee of the Trust and was selected by Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba as his personal assistant.

Replying to another question, Mr Srinivasan said that that Baba never thought of making Satyajit as a member of the Trust nor the Trust has any proposal now to include him in the Trust Board.

BHAGWAN HAD NO PROPERTIES IN HIS NAME

The Trust member said that Sathya Sai Baba had no property in his name and had neither named a successor nor left any will. All the properties were in the name of the Trust and the details were with the State government, he added. Stating that Sathya Sai Central Trust came into being in 1972, Mr Srinivasan said that fee medical treatment was being given to the patients in all the Bhagwan Satya Sai hospitals in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other places. He also disclosed that the Muddenahalli campus would be inaugurated soon.

The Trust members also said that a Satya Sai Nigamagamam was established in Hyderabad in three-and-a-half acres land, a school in 25 acres in Rajahmundry, the Rs 65-crore hospital in Puttaparthi and another hospital worth Rs 113 crores in White Fields. They also disclosed that the Satya Sai Medical Trust was receiving donations to the tune of Rs 100 to 130 crores every year out of which the Trust was spending between Rs 75 to 100 crores on service activities. They also made it clear that the Trust had never sought donations.
