Veterans Day Closures: Banks, Federal and Postal Offices

November 11th is Veterans Day for the United States, and Remembrance Day for Canada.  It is a Federal holiday in both countries.  All Federal offices are closed on November 11th in both countries.

Q. Are banks open on Veterans Day (US), Remembrance Day (Canada)?

A. No, banks are closed on November 11th.

Q. Is there mail on Veterans Day (US), Remembrance Day (Canada)?  Are the post offices closed?

A. There is no mail on November 11th.  All postal offices are closed.

Q.  Are public schools closed on Veterans Day/ Remembrance Day?

A.  It varies from city to city.  For example, public schools in Vancouver are closed, but open in Toronto.  

Q.  What about public transit?  Will they be running on the holiday schedule?

A.  Most likely, although it varies from city to city.  Public transit is governed on a municipal level, but it usually follows Federal stat holiday guidelines.
