Virat Kohli won the toss for India and elected to bowl first on a pitch looking like it could offer some assistance for the bowlers. India’s debutant Mohit Sharma struck first, picking up his first ODI wicket when he had Sikandar Raza caught behind by wicket keeper Karthik. Masakadza was the next man back in the pavilion, when he was run out by the golden arm of Ravindra Jadeja. The all too familiar middle order collapse was next up, Taylor, Williams and Sibanda all departing the scene in the space of just 8 balls. Waller and Chigumbura did the rebuilding role, putting on a decent 80 runs for the 6th wicket. The wicket of Waller for 35 sparked yet another collapse, Amit Mishra finishing off the tail in double quick time to end with figures of 3/25. Elton Chigumbura was the not out batsman for Zimbabwe, reaching his 50 off 66 balls. The home side was bowled out in the 43 over for a poor 144 runs. Mohit Mishra also bowled well to take 2/26 on his debut.
Dhawan was given a well-earned rest, Pujara handed his debut, opening the innings with Rohit Sharma. Unfortunately Pujara didn’t do too well on debut, when he was bowled by Chatara in the 10th over for 13. Suresh Raina was promoted up the order, having had very little time out in the middle thus far on tour. He used the opportunity well, ending not out on 65 off just 71 balls. At the other end Rohit Sharma managed to play himself back into form, scoring 64*. India passed the target of 144 with 115 balls till remaining, giving them a 4-0 lead in the 5 match series.
