A small North Carolina Baptist Church plans to have a Halloween book burning celebration, even though it is illegal. A $25,000 fine will be levied against The Amazing Grace Baptist Church if they go through with their planned book burning celebration.
The Pastor Marc Grizzard say the event will go forward, mainly because they are raising money to build a church.
Here are some excerpts from their website:
We will also be burning Satan's music such as country , rap , rock , pop, heavy metal, western, soft and easy, southern gospel , contemporary Christian , jazz, soul, oldies but goldies, etc.
We are not burning Bibles written in other languages that are based on the TR.
We will be serving Bar-b-Que Chicken, fried chicken, and all the sides.
If you have any books or music to donate, please call us for pick-up. If you like you can drop them off at our church door anytime. Thanks.

this country is SICK. i am ashamed to live in it, among these kind of demented people. my town is just as sick as this one, but they hide their illness under a mask of "normal politeness" and it is making me insane. i get harassed via borough ordinances that i'm not really violating, etc...

Why is it sick to burn books they own? Why are they demented to get rid of things they no longer agree with?
Did they come to your house and steal your books to burn?
I take it you go by the adage that it is okay for other to have an opinion or belief...as long as it agrees with yours?

These kind of stories of exceptional negative behavior are not balanced by positive stories nor are they balanced by poverty in Canada, nutjobs in Canada stories. So, they are propaganda for an anti-American view and designed to have the effect that you experience, "dys-amoria".
These stories, overemphasized and unbalanced, are designed to make up for the feelings of inferiority that our role and power evoke in others.
How many stories have been done on the outstanding number of Americans who win Nobel Prizes?
When I lived in Italy, I was surrounded by the corruption, dysfunctionality and even the daily thievery of Romans. Yet, they would lecture me on "the evils of America".
They would lecture me on racism until I pointed out that my black wife had had more racist encounters in Rome in three years than in Los Angeles in ten.
They would lecture me on our public school system until it came out that their reading and math scores were about the same as ours.
They didn't read their own newspapers. Less than 20% read a daily newspaper compared with 30% of Americans, and slightly more Brits and Germans.
Hell, some of the Germans I got to know while teaching them English would go off on the US without the slightest understanding of just how evil their parents and grandparents had been and who had stopped them, and how well they had been treated after the war.
We are a nation of 300 million people. If Canada were that big, we would find a nutjob church there doing something similar.
Instead, the Canadians have nutjobs such as Avi Lewis, who went off to work for Al Jazeera. That doesn't qualify him for nutjob status. What qualifies him for nutjob status is his lick-the-culo of every left-wing pro-Islam position.

So, I would like to see balance and see someone other than Barry Artiste do stories on the dysfunctional aspects of Canadian life.

I love the "it's not as bad as other places" and the "we do a lot of good stuff too" defense of a nut case action that will threaten a community with an open burn ban.

Do others know you actually owned disco records? Are you emotionally unstable? Have you been screened for dementia or a possible loss of rhythm? Lose your funky beat?
