Speaking at an AFL-CIO picnic this Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2009 in Cinncinnati, Ohio, President Obama hailed the union movement as being responsible for many of the changes that have occurred in the United States, like the 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, health insurance, paid leave, pensions, Social Security and Medicare.

He also emphasized his committment to health care reform for the nation.
