A Cruise Ship Has Been Quarantined in Southeastern Brazil Due to Food Poisoning

Vision of the Seas from Royal Caribbean has been quarantined in Buzios in southeastern Brazil due to over 300 people suffering from food poisoning aboard the ship according to ABC News. Passengers were afflicted with vomiting and diarrhea and as a result all 1,987 passengers and 765 crew members have been ordered to stay on board while an investigation is completed.

Doctors are collecting samples from those suffering with food poisoning and food supplies are being checked to make sure they are up to health and safety code.

Vision of the Seas left Santos on Monday and is expected to be able to leave Buzios today at some point.

This is not the first time that cruise ship passengers have been stricken with food poisoning.

In January last year, hundreds of passengers on a Swiss-owned cruise ship were also stricken with severe vomiting and diarrhea caused by food poisoning, the spokeswomen said.
