VOTED!

In 2000 I voted for Bush. Then came 9-11 and the war, then Gitmo, the Patriot Act, and the photos of the detainees being tortured. With our freedoms being taken from us and our reputation at stake I hesitantly voted for Kerry in 2004. When he lost I was angry -how could my fellow Americans vote to continue living under Bush who had no respect for Constitution he swore an oath to uphold? The day after the election I tore the American flag off my backpack. I was no longer proud of my country.

But today it seems we're turning the corner. A black man with the name Barack Hussein Obama is poised to win the election and I hope he lives up to his word and can bring this country back together. I'm sick of the "your either with us or against us"mentality and the politics of fear that we've been living with lately.

No matter what your views, though, if you're in the US remember to get out there and vote!
