Hyderabad, May 14 Telugu Desam Party senior leader and Politburo member Mr. Yanamala Rama Krishnudu has said that the people of Kadapa have voted for sentiment in the by-elections and not for Jagan.

In a statement here on Saturday, he said that the people had voted to Jagan and his mother because of their sympathy for the late Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara  Reddy who died in a helicopter crash. He said if Jagan felt that the entire state was in support of them he was wrong.

Rama Krishnudu has argued that if history was examined, it would be clear that the victories of all those who got four to five lakh votes of majority were their individual victories and not their party’s. He has reminded that though Mr.  P V Narasimha Rao won with a better majority in 1991, in the 1996 general elections, congress was wiped out and the United Front was voted to power by the people. In 1994 Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had won with over 4 lakh votes; but the TDP swept the general elections to the Assembly. Congress did not get even opposition status, he reminded.

“In 1989, Ram Vilas Paswan got 5 lakh votes majority in Bihar. But his party never came to power. In the general elections only people’s problems play the main role. Now in Tamilnadu and Pondicherry elections, people have voted against corruption and nefarious activities. The role of DMK in 2 G Spectrum and other scams, dynastic politics were responsible for people voting Ms. Jayalalita to  power. In Pondicherry, people elected Rangaswamy as he is an honest and able leader. Jagan need not be elated because of his victory in Kadapa. If the MLAs and MPs of YSR Congress feel that they also would get majorities like this, why cannot they resign and get reelected? Why are the fighting shy?” Rama Krishnudu questioned.

Rama Krishnudu has said that in the next general elections in the state, corruption and nefarious activities were going to be main election issues. He has expressed confidence that the people would oppose corruption and dynastic rule and elect TDP to power. He has asserted that the TDP would continue to fight against the corruption of YSR Congress and Congress.
