With the number of volunteers that put their efforts toward the Obama-Biden campaign, it is no surprise that the number of applicants to the Obama-Biden Transition Administration is another staggering number: 200,000. The application was only made available Thursday November 6th, so there is no doubt that this number will rise.

According to officials at the Obama-Biden transition office they have received more than 200,000 applications for positions.

And with far more applicants than available slots, it could be a long wait by the phone. Still, the Web site reassures potential employees who may be nervous about their chances that “applying on-line is the fastest and most accurate way to get your information to us.”

Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for the transition team, characterized the flood of résumés as an “incredible response” to their open casting call for future West Wingers and agency appointees.

If you're feeling like a non-career position with the Obama-Biden Administration, in the White House, Federal Department, Agency or Commision, is your bag then simply fill out a preliminary application online at change.gov, the aptly named website for the Obama-Biden Transition Team.

President-Elect Obama will make appointments throughout the federal government. Some positions will require Senate confirmation while others will not. Some appointments will be made during the transition process and others during the early part of the new Administration.

If you apply for a position now, you will not need to apply again after January 20th. Applications submitted now to the Obama-Biden Transition Project will be retained and considered by the Office of Presidential Personnel after President-Elect Obama takes office.

Application Process:

  1. Please complete and submit the on-line Expression of Interest Form below.
  2. Within a few days, you will receive an email with a link to a more complete on-line application.
  3. Upon submitting your full on-line application you will receive an e-mail acknowledgment.
  4. If and when you are considered for a specific position, you will be asked to fill out additional forms, including financial disclosures, and be subject to other reviews which may include FBI background checks.

This is definitely a change! Considering that Joe-plumber, or Joe-whoever, can now apply to work at the White House, the Obama-Biden Administration's use of the internet could promise to really change the atmosphere in Washington.

200,000+ people? I wonder if there might be a recession, depression, or an economic crisis going on? Perhaps stores are closing and people are losing their jobs? With everyone wanting to work for Obama, he's going to have find employment for more people than his own administration.

Is is a little bit far to go to the office everyday, but should be great to work in his team.
