Synopsis:    On May 23, 2001, Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Welton, Arizona Station encountered four (4) undocumented aliens approximately 8 miles south of Interstate 8, east of the Mohawk Mountains. Their encounter led to the location of seven (7) other undocumented aliens along with fourteen (14) deceased persons that had attempted to walk through the desert who entered illegally into the United States from the Republic of Mexico. In June 2001, Manilla-Cabrera (aka El Negro) was indicted for conspiracy to smuggle illegal aliens into the United States, alien smuggling and inducing aliens to remain in the United States illegally.
