I look at reporters and editors to be people who could best give out "commentaries." This is one thing I admire them. They are so dedicated to news that they really know what they are saying.
Well in this case I would say they had their very good reasons.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama won the endorsement of The Washington Post in an editorial saying the Illinois senator "has the potential to become a great president."
The newspaper said its choice was made easy in part by the "disappointing campaign" of Republican candidate John McCain and his decision to pick Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, as his vice presidential running mate for the November 4 election.

As far as I know the Washington Post has endorsed every Democratic candidate in my lifetime. This is no more news than the NRA endorsing McCain.

it's still an endorsement though
face it, Barack's gonna win and so will the country

This is a pretty big move on the part of the Washington Post. Good for them for standing up and choosing a candidate though.

Actually this is as predictable as the sun rising and setting. The Washington Post is a Democratic newspaper.

master_jim and eastvanray, thank you for your comments. I believe master_jim is right it is still an endorsement.
amyjudd thanks for the GS and the comment. The endorsement made by the Post just showed that they can act based from what they have observed. In this case, they gave an endorsement in favor of the guy who weighed more on their scale.
Predictable as others may say. I for one said months ago, I was for McCain to win the elections, not until she chose Palin as his running mate and doing a lot of screw ups in the past few months.
I am not an american but I believe Barack Obama is best fit for Presidency.

All I am saying is that The Washington Post would endorse a ham sandwich if it was the Democratic nominee. They did not have to do any thinking or "deciding"; they are part of the Democratic Party machine. They are no more politically unbiased than moveon.org or the Huffington Report.

Thanks eastvanray. I believe the Post did gave out their reasons for endorsing Obama, they must have done some thinking on that.

NOt really. Those "reasons" are all part of selling the endorsements to those few who do not know that The Washington Post is a Democratic newspaper and would never endorse any candidate for President who is not the Democratic nominee. They are all part of the Democratic political machine.
