Don't Forget to Wear Purple on October 20 2010 For Spirit Day and to Honor Those Teenagers Who Committed Suicide Due to Anti-LGBT Bullying

Spirit Day has no organized rallies and no meeting place but it is a chance to wear purple to honor those who took their lives because of bullying.

 Spirit Day (WEAR PURPLE!)

In recent weeks we have heard of the deaths of Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh, Raymond Chase Justin Aaberg, Billy Lucas and Asher Brown, and those are just the ones reported in the mainstream media.

Spirit Day gives you a chance to honor them and help prevent any more young LGBT people choosing death over life. The color purple symbolizes 'spirit' on the rainbow flag, which is an international symbol for gay pride.

GLAAD.org states that by wearing purple on October 20 you can show the world that you stand by these courageous young people and a simple way to stand UP to the bullies. Remember those lives we've tragically lost, and show your solidarity with those who are still fighting. 'Go Purple' today!

We have added some photos and videos of people wearing purple for Spirit Day - are you wearing purple?

@NOH8Campaign #NOH8 #LGBT Where's your purple? <333 on Twitpic
