NP Rank:
We're just wasting brave lives on a country we'll never free
It is certain that British troops will quit Afghanistan in the next few years, leaving that country, as it is now, corrupt, repressive and ruled either by warlords or mullahs. When that day comes, what will politicians of both major parties say to the families of those soldiers who die between now and then?
Or to the many who will be horribly injured in the same period?
It's got to that point in UK, where the public are fed up with the efforts of politicians saying Afghanistan will be freed by the military. Taking the war to the terrorist has lost its edge, Al Queda still exists the Taliban were not our enemy but they did hold rost over the Afghanistan citizens with a ridged set of Religous based laws.
The why we are there factor has lost its meaning to the factor why are we letting our troops be slaughtered for a country that will never be really democratic and free. What are we doing rebuilding the world into one that USA would like to see?
Our ally USA had a reason to be annoyed but should we have followed them in their revenge then placed our soldiers under their generals? Then when we see through the deceit and lies concerning the other battle field in Iraq, should we be supporting USA especially when the avenue of attack on terrorism is not what it really seems but geared to oil and gas and its supply.
How many soldiers have to die and what for, what political motive what gain does UK get out of this total mess. its certainly not going to stop terrorism within our own borders.

The Brits will never learn a lesson either.
By the way, will the British Government ever be liable for getting its soldiers killed in a foreign land, perhaps for a pipeline?

Didn't you know the war machine must go on. People are making money on it so there fore we must have a war at all times! Doesn't matter who gets killed or maimed as long as the power boys are making a fortune.
