Chhouy Harm Killed Her Two Granddaughters, Her Son-In-Law and Herself in a Shooting in West Seattle

It is not known why Chhouy Harm killed three of her family members, before turning the gun on herself as police started to collect outside the home. She also shot her daughter, Thyda Harm, in the back as she was running away from the home, but she is expected to survive her injuries.

According to the Seattle Times, Chhouy Harm told one of her relatives to lock herself in her room, before shooting her son-in-law, two of her granddaughters, and attempting to kill her daughter. The victims have been identified as Chean Harm Phan and Jennifer Harm, 17, and Melina Harm, 14.

"Grandma just shot them for no reason," said 17-year-old Tony Sun, a member of the family who arrived home shortly after the shootings to see police lining his street.

Harm's daughter told police:

"My mom has gone crazy,"

This is the deadliest shooting in Seattle since Kyle Huff killed six people in 2006.

Now neighbors and friends are looking for a motive, but although reports state some tempers flared in the house on Wednesday night, a motive is not known. Some relatives have stated that Chhouy Harm was mentally ill and had been institutionalized in the past.

The family had just moved to the West Seattle area last month, but conditions were reportedly cramped in the house with eleven people from two different families trying to live together in a three bedroom house.

Chean Harm Phan, the son-in-law, was a landscaper, and Thyda Harm worked at Magic Lanes Bowling & Casino just down the street, and together they supported the three generations, Sun said.
