NP Rank:
What Australia Needs
Australia is a beautiful and livable country, and there is a lot to be said in favor of Australian people. We see in them openness, honesty, compassion and generosity that are not frequently found in many other places. I want to see Australia flourish; and toward that effect there are problems that need to be solved.
One is that, with a population of 20 million people, Australia cannot be a major power. I submit that there is a way to make Australia a major power by making it possible for Australia to support a much larger population than it supports now. And the way to do that is to use desalinated ocean water to irrigate the outback, resulting in it producing vast amount of food and farm products to support a population that would be required for Australia to be a major power in the world.
Another is that Australia is not respected for social reasons. Australians have a global reputation for racism, and they also have a global reputation for violence against women. Both practices are a disgrace. There needs to be strong and effective efforts to fight domestic violence in Australia and to end the abominable ways in which many Australian men like to treat their wives and their girlfriends.
Finally, there are new technologies that make every sense in Australia. The most important one is the Hydrogen Transmission Network. As a hot and dry country, Australia lacks in fresh water resources; with large distances between places, much of the energy that goes into the electric grid goes to waste. Using electrolysis to break ocean water into hydrogen and oxygen and sending hydrogen through special pipes to all places of energy and water consumption, there to be reacted with oxygen in the air to create both water and energy, will be a one-stop solution to Australia's water and energy needs.
My friend Dean, who has traveled everywhere in the world, said that Australia is the world's most livable country. The good values that make this possible should count in the world; and the way to do that is to significantly increase Australia's population while doing away with wrongful practices that undermine Australia's credibility. Australia needs more people, and it needs better cultural practices. With both these problems being addressed, Australia could become a major power and a positive force in the world.
