Bangalore-Man-slaps-6-yr-old-child-dies

It was a moment's irritation which led to tragedy and unbearable guilt: a six-year-old boy lost his life all because a man,

irritated with him, slapped him hard. Nagesh, 30, the man who unintentionally committed this crime, was shocked. He had dropped off to sleep on Wednesday afternoon without locking the door. He awoke when he heard a noise and found Sathish playing inside the house. Irritated, he slapped Sathish, who fell and hit his head on a hard surface, and died on the spot.
Nagesh, who panicked when he realized what had happened, took the body in a plastic bag and disposed of it in a Nilgiri grove. Though he returned after half-an-hour in a bid to smash the child's head so it would be difficult to identify him, he changed his mind on seeing the body.

The confession
Nagesh was a helper with an HIV patients' rehabilitation centre in Doddakannelli, HSR Layout. Dogged by remorse and guilt, he could not keep the secret within himself. He went to a person, `Brother' Madhu, at the rehabilitation centre on Saturday, and confessed his crime.
On Friday morning, Amala, a garment factory worker from Janatha Colony in Doddakannelli, had lodged a missing complaint with the HSR Layout police. She had stated that Sathish, her six-year-old son, who was playing outside the house on Wednesday afternoon, had gone missing ever since. Sathish was the son of Amala and her late husband Gundaiah. After Gundaiah's death, she had married again.
On Friday night, Sathish's body was discovered in a Nilgiri plantation in the locality. The police, who examined the body, found no major external injuries and registered a case of unnatural death.
The case took a new twist on Saturday when the police came to know that a man had confessed in front of a `Brother' in a rehabilitation centre in the area. When the police went and asked Brother Madhu, he agreed that Nagesh had confessed he had killed the child. Nagesh, a native of Puttur, had married two months ago and was working with them.
The police took Nagesh into custody and interrogated him. They registered a murder case and produced him before the magistrate on Sunday. He was remanded to judicial custody.
