Pharaohs became so self-important that when they ran out of people to conquer they declared themselves Gods and turned to building temples for themselves.

Apparently, Gaddafi has reached that state as he believes he is dying for some god-like purpose such keeping himself in power at the expense of Libyan people.


Having attacked the people with jets and helicopter gunships, he has passed the point of martyrdom and has become another dictator in histories list of darkest times.

In a defiant speech on state television, Libyan strongman Moammar Gaddafi rejected demands that he relinquish power. "I will not leave the country and I will die as a martyr," he said.



The Libyan leader, whose government has been weakened in recent days even as it has brutally cracked down on mass protests, also said "damn those who try to stir unrest."
