What’s all the fuss about the Connecticut Mass Shooting?

Searching the web I have seen information about it everywhere. Why it seems we are so shocked about this event? Because 27 people died, from which 20 were children in a school ? But, has anyone ever thought that in Africa there are child soldiers? Has anyone ever thought that there people living hell somewhere in the world, right now?

And, in fact, this is just a media bomb. People just do not want to analyze the information and take it as a sensation. But, why it is supposed to be something sensational? Can someone tell me that there weren’t any notable events in history that no one cares about today?

The real problem is not that this case took place, but the fact that in a couple of years most of the ones that were moved by this event will not care anymore. And most of the writing around these types of events are just meant to impress and not to offer any solutions.

The true fact is that the media does not care about how aware one is about how to identify problems our relatives might have. In today’s  society we basically forget to be humans, as we tend to do not truly express our feelings. Few truly care about relatives and this is a problem that has long been on the Earth.

Until we will put some effort into talking with our relatives and the people around us and really value each other as humans, we will continue to face all sorts of problems. It’s the problem that people tend to forget what it means to be human. And all these folks, who commit all sorts of horrific actions, seem to have problems, which could have been avoided, in some cases, if someone would have talked with them.

Let’s take for example Tim Kretschmer ( remember this guy? Probably vaguely or not, as his shooting took place in 2009, when he also committed suicide ): he had frustrations regarding women and maybe social problems, in general. But, what if people would have talked with him and found out that there is something pathological in him? I believe that there would have been found a way to avoid that sad event.

So, the idea is that we must start considering knowing each other better. That’s why people had survived in small communities, because everyone knew about everyone else and knew how to protect from who. Of course, there was the problem that not always the society took any action regarding bad elements (which, in most cases, were known by the society ) , because of fear.

But, by knowing the ones around us better, we can figure out who might have mental problems. Like how can someone, that comes in contact with nobody, be suggested some medical treatment? You have to know who that weird person at the next house/floor/etc. is and why it is that weird. We forgotten to know our surroundings and that’s why we have this strange feeling, which only a big city can produce: the feeling of being alone in the middle of the crowd.

To sum up everything, we must always remember that we are humans and that we are social beings. If we have no social part in our lives things can lead to social or even mental disorders. And when you have no contacts no one will know what your state is. So, people should remember who they truly are on the road to money and fame.
