What's so special about today! It's Africa Day
Hey y'all how proud can an African be when a whole day is set aside to celebrate the diversities and achievements of our beloved continent and the celebrations spread far and wide across Africa and beyond...Africa Day is the annual commemoration on May 25 of the 1963 founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU). On this day, leaders of 30 of the 32 independent African states signed a founding charter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.[1] In 1991, the OAU established the African Economic Community (AEC), and in 2002 the OAU established its own successor, the African Union (AU or UA). However, the name and date of Africa Day has been retained as a celebration of African unity. For more on the celebrations in the U.K go to www.viewlondon.co.uk

May 25th is Africa Day, the official day of the African Union. It is an opportunity to celebrate African diversity and success, and join Africans around the world in highlighting the cultural and social energy of the continent.

You don't really tell us very much (one short para?) about Africa, or Ahgrica Day or the AU. Whay exactly have they achieved so far apart from disunity and an unwillingness to do much effective peace keeping in Africa?

Well you got a point there about the under achievements of Africa but really on the brighter side of it...we somehow have managed to keep up with the changing trends in solving disputes 'Diplomatically' so if you want more on Africa and the Day I've provided a couple of hyperlinks so that you can check em out yourself.
