With so much at stake in the world today with the global community teetering on the edge of darkness where at any moment Armageddon could be knocking on our door. Our very own dubious elected officials, yes, the very same ones that we elect to uphold American values, principals, and laws continue to miss the boat in all attempts at solving not only internal crisis they been proven most inept in alleviating international problems as well. In fact, they are not only continuing to miss the boat they have yet to figure out where the pier is that there're supposed to be at to catch the boat.

I for one would jump for joy at the glorious moment when just once our "Wizards" in Washington would get it right. But, so far all that is spewing our of Washington doesn't even come close. The Republicans rationale` only has annihilated not only most Americans but most of the global community as well. The realization that our current political structure from the Constitution on down in a world that is constantly changing is testament to the fact that self-serving bureaucrats are self-perpetuating their own species instead of coordinating global and national continuity to broker a non partisan resolve in solving the many crisis that plague us all.

One of the major concerns prevailing in America is with our antiquated for profit health care systems. The United States is the only industrialized nation with-out Universal Health Care for all it's citizens. Special interest groups, insurance lobbyists, pharmaceutical manufactures and specific legislators are the beneficiaries of failed policies from Medicaid to Medicare. In Florida where the Governor is gutting Medicare and Medicaid with out any backup results that more and more of Americans will suffer. It is again the Republicans that are intensifying the growing number of citizens who can no longer afford health care coverage. Most businesses still are continuing to find it cost prohibitive to offer company benefits. If they do the co pays are so monumental the employee still is left out.

It has been almost 4 years since the United States faced domestic gas prices that were becoming so outrageous. Where so many millions of Americans became literally overnite so financially strapped our whole economy is still feeling the after effects. We must remember that ever since Henry Ford first produce the automobile America has been the most mobile of societies. We still are a mobile society that depends on the availability and affordability of gasoline. Any deviation or sever fluctuation on the price or availability of gasoline severely damages the security and stability of the United States. We have had 4 years to prepare for another onslaught where gasoline could become another national emergency. Again, our elected officials have only twiddled their thumbs and not enabled the American public to have the price of gasoline remain below $3.00 per gallon.

This is just the beginning of legislation proposed that continues to undermine the U.S. economy. Another realm of reality is that only the Republicans seem to be today's advocates for more inequality. This is with the recent proposed transportation and energy bill, which essentially transports our whole economy back to the beginning of the 1st Industrial Revolution. A party where tolerance is not in their vocabulary keeps the United States from ever becoming the beacon of hope and prosperity that was enjoyed just 50 years ago. This is the sobering reality of today.

"A nation divided can not stand" Abraham Lincoln. Well, guess what! The United States is so divided not only politically but our moral consciousness has splintered into so many fragments that it just might be impossible to put them back together. Stubborn affiliations continue to plague our political landscape is just one of the many causes to why the rest of the world is passing us by.

Will we finally get it right? That remains to be seen. The world is fast approaching critical mass while the United States twiddles it's thumbs, sort of speaking. Meanwhile countries like Greece, England, France and other European nations are all experiencing spasms of continued economic distress. Other countries like Syria, Egypt and other Mid-East nations are frothing at the mouth embroiled in open hostilities curtailing any semblance of order. Then we have countries like Iran and N. Korea just to name a few where firmly entrenched leaders continue to harbor open resentment and encourage a self domineering presence over all those who oppose.

When will we ever get it right? A question I hope that time won't tell.
