NP Rank:
Where, when and why are those Texas precinct conventions again?
UPDATE - So what happened in one convention?
The Texas Democratic Party's precinct conventions are held at the same location as election day voting. You can go, sign in with the choice of candidate and leave or you can stay for the fireworks.
Here's the word from the party -
Your precinct convention location will be held at your precinct’s Election Day polling location. If the Precinct Convention is moved to another location (e.g. due to lack of space), a sign will be posted at the original location directing you where to go to participate.
Wait!
I have MORE questions! This is confusing.
- Where do I vote? Don't know where to vote? Try locating your polling place with the party's webpage. check your local newspaper or try calling your county clerk's office (good luck on that).
- How the hell do these damn ... uh ... Just how do these unique "conventions" work? Click here
- May I go if I voted early? Yes, but check the location for today's voting place for your precinct (see #1).
- Why do we have to have these blasted conventions anyway? Who knows, but click here to see what the party says. Personally, I think it's like the secret clubs in high school, where only certain people who knew certain things knew what to do without being laughed at.
- I am just confused. Can I vote without my voter registration card? I am not on the rolls (Boy George Bush is behind this, I know it!) what can I do? Relax, click here and the nice people will explain it all.
- MY HAIR IS ON FIRE! Smother it with a towel and call George Tenet in the morning.
- Can I bring my kids to the precinct convention? Yes, if you voted, but you have to stay with them.
- How long will this convention last? Oh, gawd, they can go on forever! Actually, it all depends on how many votes are needed on delegates and resolutions. You may leave at any time.
- How do I become a delegate to the national convention? Do I have to go to the precinct convention first? No, you do not have to be present to win. Click here and the party will explain how to begin your journey.
- Do I want to be a delegate? You're asking the wrong person here. First, you have to ask yourself - Can I really carry off a funny hat? If the answer is "yes", you are on your way.
Finally, the Texas Democratic Party has a hotline set up to answer these questions.
