Yes, Bottled Water, a trend if you will, perpetuated by those in Lycra or Spandex who are seen throughout Vancouver and other trendy North American cities, The fashionable trendy, seen running in place at a stoplight, water bottle in hand, taking tiny birdlike sips, in what one can only see in their Trendy Quest to shout out that “I am way too cool for school”.
Of course this bottled water cost more than a gallon of gas does not seem to sway the Bandwaggoners of Trendy to drink from a Tap.
Of course with carcinogenic BHP’s from plastic water bottles leaching into your elixir, what are the Trendy Kits Crowd to do? Garden Hoses are too long and heavy to carry on your daily jog, 7-Elevens insist you buy something first before using the water taps in their washrooms.
You could go to your local Starbucks, for a glass of water, why not, it is just another Trendy Hotspot populated with other Trendy customers.
This brings me full circle to another Trendsetter, you know who I am referring to, the "Desperate to be seen types”, the ones with Laptops, pretending to work studiously, with furrowed brow, interspered with a exasperated sigh, in their earnest "tap, tap, tappity tap" on the keyboard.
This, like other types of Trendsetter, in particular the LapTop Trendsetter are hoping someone will notice them, perhaps someone will express "awe" thinking they are another Hemingway, instead of a Milquetoast, wearing a “Roots” jaunty Red Beret. The old Laptop ploy replaced the cell phone as a fashion belt accessory, as Trendy uses his laptop as an excuse to meet women, or even a new bestest friend, because let’s face it, a man without a Laptop sitting in a coffee shop for three hours, staring at you out of the corner of his eye is high on the Creepiness scale even for Stalkers.
So in ending, there is only one safe alternative as a “True spring water” in a real honest to goodness” glass bottle”, is Perrier!!!.
Perrier for a century the “Holy Grail of Bottled water” hails not from sluiceways and drainage ditches of North America, but from France, that “Ultimate Cheese eating, Blouse wearing, Poodle walking Society of World Trendsetters.
The French actually wear jaunty Berets.
So, will we see that familiar Green Glass Bottles on our streets of trendy, perhaps even a Beret or two?
Only time and trendy bandwaggonery will tell. Of course Trendsetters, usually have Fashionably outfitted Trendy Pets, Coutured Pets who drink out of the toilet regardless of Breeding and also Lick their nibbly bits clean every chance they get. These Foo Foo La, La's in turn Lick their Owners Face. Both the Trendy and their Pets seem perfectly Healthy regardless whether they drink from the toilet of from Bottled Water. I am just wondering what all the fuss is, certainly elitism and snobbery cannot be a Trend or Fashion?
As for me, my kitchen tap works just fine
Where Your Bottled Water Comes From
What's the difference between all those bottles staring at you from your grocery store's shelves?
A brouhaha erupted four years ago when it was revealed that Coca Cola’s Dasani brand of bottled water is purified municipal tap water. But according to the independent beverage research company Canadean, at least two out of every five bottles of water sold around the world contain "purified" water, rather than "source" water that come from a spring. Most big-name water producers market more than one line of purified water that comes from municipal water supplies. If the label doesn’t name the source, or spring, it’s usually purified tap water. Bottled tap water That’s not a bad thing. Although bottled water purveyors purify tap water and sometimes add things to it, municipal water straight out of the tap is every bit as safe – some say safer – to drink as bottled water. And if you have to buy water when away from your house or didn’t bring a re-usable bottle that you can fill, it’s good to know that the water you’re drinking didn’t have to burn up even more fossil fuel while being shipped or flown thousands of miles to get to your store. Despite the growing number of bottled water labels, some stating exotic sources in the Alps, the lion’s share of the market is owned by big companies such as Nestle, Coca Cola, and Pepsi. Nestle has a big footprint in Toronto. Almost all Toronto-area grocery stores greet shoppers at the entrance with stacks of cases of Nestle’s Pure Life Natural Spring Water. Nestle also owns the Perrier, Montclair, and Sanpellegrino brands of water. Nestle’s website says that water in Pure Life brand bottles come from several sources, including purified tap or well water. The bottles of Pure Life Natural Spring Water in Toronto come from a spring in Aberfoyle, Ontario, which is about 10 kilometres south of Guelph. Types of water Water is commonly sold in four categories: •Spring water: from an underground source that flows naturally to the surface.
•Purified water: water that has been distilled, de-ionized, or filtered through reverse osmosis or other processes.
•Sparkling water: water that still has the same amount of carbon dioxide in it when tapped at source. This may involve replacing the carbon dioxide after processes.
•Mineral water: Water that contains at least 250 parts per million dissolved minerals. This must be present in water at the source. Minerals cannot be added.

Barry Artiste, I like this story. It's good stuff. I love it that folks pay 1.50 for a bottle of NYC tap water. I have gone to drinking distiled water

lets face it, natural source water comes from a pipe that is fed from an underground water source - perhaps pumped hundreds of feet. But so is the water for many dry environment communities including places like Las Vegas.
Its no different to well water and is influenced by the surrounding rock
Other than tank water collected from the roof, (with its encumbent possum and bird poop) our domestic supply comes from a 325 foot deep bore hole brought to the surface by a submersible pump. It has a high salt content so we cannot put it through our electric water heater (blows the element every 6 months) and blocks the garden watering drippers with white scale.
Maybe I should sell it as health mineral enhanced.!!

I agree Matte, one thing though, doesn't your water heater have a "Slave Rod" in the center of the tank? A Slave Rod is a Bi-Metal steel rod that acts as a conduit to collect minerals in the water, thus extending the life of the glass lined water heaters. We have me here, I would be certain you would have them too, though some take them out. Though a water filtration desalination system can be used too, to take out the salt.
