Who is John Edwards' Mistress & Did He Sell His Shot at VP for a Song? (News + Opinion)

The saga of the John Edwards-Rielle Hunter affair grows more bizarre daily, as details about Hunter come out. Edwards, a Barack Obama favorite, now says that he's "99%" honest.

This is the guy who vehemently denied that he'd had an affair. Hunter, it seems has one heckuva past.

Early on in this mess--while MSM media was covering its eyes, stifling reporters and bloggings as the LA Times did, and trying to still promote one of their liberal favorites--I watched one of the Hunter vidoes of Edwards. It's obvious that something is going on--Edwards' body language, eyes, and repartee make it clear for everyone to see.

"I actually want the country to see who I am, who I really am." Edwards declared. Well, he's done just that--even though he had to be dragged kicking and screaming into revealing the full monty.

No wonder his staff got those Hunter-made yanked from the internet. Luckily, someone had stored them and got them posted backup.

The real pain of this: a brave woman, Elizabeth Edwards, fighting incurable cancer, married to a philanderer. Not surprisingly, she's standing by her man, as political wives do.

Not suprisingly, Edwards is cowering behind the cover of her skirts. Now the plea is that this not be covered because it might distress and futher pain his poor, sick wife. Elizabeth has posted her own diary entries along that line.

No, John Edwards. What pained your wife --you and your lying and cheating. Even your former campaign staffers are pained.

Not surprisingly, Obama stays mum on his buddy's mess.

The saga took a strange turn last month when the ex-senator was reportedly found cowering in a bathroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., in the middle of the night, reportedly after visiting a former campaign worker who a supermarket tabloid says is the mother of his baby girl.

That woman — Rielle Hunter — knows about scandal. During her decade-long marriage, her father-in-law was the prosecutor in the celebrated Ramsey case in Boulder, Colo.

......It seems Rielle — known then as Lisa — hooked up with Kip in Los Angeles after her run as a Manhattan party girl and inspiration for a 1987 Jay McInerney novel. The author recently recalled that the book "was narrated in the first person from the point of view of an ostensibly jaded, cocaine-addled, sexually voracious 20-year-old who was, shall we say, inspired by Lisa."
