Who would fool senators with false bin Laden photo?

The story here is that senators were shown a bin Laden death pic and it was fake. Then, they commented about it, saying they were duped, but the President should release the real photo.

I think the senators made up the story just so they could talk about their opinion that the President should release the death photo. This story appears to be contrived.

Who was it that tapped the senators on the shoulder and said, “Take a look at this?”

Who is the duper?

“Trio of senators fooled by false bin Laden photo

By Felicia Sonmez

At least three senators who said Wednesday that they had seen an official postmortem photo of Osama bin Laden corrected themselves later, saying that they were duped.

Republican Sens. Scott Brown (Mass.), Kelly Ayotte (N.H.) and Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), the vice chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, told reporters early in the day that they had been shown a photo of the slain al-Qaeda leader, which the White House had been weighing releasing to the public.

But later Wednesday, Brown’s office acknowledged that the photo he viewed “is not authentic.”

His statement was followed by one from Ayotte in which the New Hampshire Republican said she was not certain whether the photo was real.

“While I was shown a photo by another senator of what appeared to be a deceased Osama bin Laden, I do not know if it was authentic,” Ayotte said. “However, I do believe a photo of the dead al-Qaeda leader should be released. Although some may be upset by the image of someone who has been shot in the head, releasing a photo is important to put to rest any conspiracy theories that may arise around the world and to provide for closure.”

Chambliss had told reporters later Wednesday that he had not seen an official photo. His office said Wednesday evening that Chambliss “has been very clear about this: He has not seen the official photo.”

None of the senators’ offices would reveal the source of the photo they had seen. All three are members of the Armed Services Committee.

President Obama announced Wednesday afternoon that he would not release a photo showing a dead bin Laden. But several senior senators, including Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), have called that “a mistake.”

National security leaders are easily duped. Lindsay Graham, are you the duper?

A photo of a dead Osama bin Laden should be in every news paper world wide. And if the terrorists don't like it and want to bomb an embassy or some other nonsense in retaliation. Their photo, of them dead, can be the next in the paper.

I am more in favor of silent assassinations and then a group montage photo at the end.

A better way to go would have been to take him alive, stick him in a bullet-proof glass bubble, like the one on the pope-mobile, and drive him around the country as an object of ridicule, until his trial for terrorism, hate-crimes, assassination, murder, and everything else. At which point he could be left in a rat-infested cell until he died of old age in the not to distant future, depriving him of his dignity <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />AND the opportunity to be hailed as a martyr. Killing him is not making an example of him, considering his followers are willing to die for their perverted cause. If anything, it has made his status that much more exalted. That, or silence on the whole issue, but release a fake tape, where he claims to convert to Judaism, and have the CIA claim to have authenticated it… At least that way would be more fun. But I'm with you Jim, the senators are probably just talking out their rear ends, as politicians are so often prone to...

Having Osama appear at carnivals where people throw shoes at him on a waterboard dunking machine would be much more fun, but sooo politically incorrect.

still better than hooking a car battery up to his... ahem... equipment? Though I think you might have just come up with a great new twist on an old fair game. Remember throwing softballs at little furry things that looked like oven-mits with eyes, or bottles to try and knock them over and win your girl a teddy-bear or some other cheap toy? Swap out the Tribbles or bottles with little stuffed Osamas, and use shoes instead of baseballs. Instant hit! Even better, get bonus points for hitting the "suicide bomber" Osama, who explodes talcum powder when you hit him!
