The answer to the question will come when the US Chamber of Commerce releases a list identifying contributors to their campaign. That should be in accordance with the FARA law.

“Asked to back up the allegation, White House adviser David Axelrod offered no proof but said, "Why not simply disclose where this money is coming from and then all of these questions would be answered."

Axelrod said corporate interests are spending huge sums to help Republicans in the elections without fully revealing where the cash originates, calling those expenditures "a threat to our democracy."”

“The ban on political contributions and expenditures by foreign nationals was first enacted in 1966 as part of the amendments to the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), an "internal security" statute.  The goal of the FARA was to minimize foreign intervention in U.S. elections by establishing a series of limitations on foreign nationals.  These included registration requirements for the agents of foreign principals and a general prohibition on political contributions by foreign nationals.  In 1974, the prohibition was incorporated into the Federal Election Campaign Act (the FECA), [HTML] [PDF] giving the Federal Election Commission (FEC) jurisdiction over its enforcement and interpretation.” [q url=“http://www.foxnews.com/...-foreign-contributions/] “Rove, Gillespie Slam Obama for Spreading 'Baseless Lie' Over Foreign Contributions

Published October 10, 2010

Two top Republicans lit into President Obama and the Democratic Party Sunday over accusations that the GOP strategists and the Chamber of Commerce were using foreign contributions to influence the election, calling the claim a "baseless lie" and accusing the president of "abuse of power."

Karl Rove, a Fox News contributor, said on "Fox News Sunday" that the president had gone too far.

"Have these people no shame? Does the president of the United States have such little regard for the office that he holds that he goes out there and makes these kind of baseless charges against his political enemies?" Rove said. "This is just beyond the pale. How dare the president do this."

Rove was referring to a series of charges that have been leveled over the past week. Obama first said at a rally in Maryland Thursday that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which he referred to without mentioning by name, was paying for ads against Democrats while taking money from "foreign corporations."

"So groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections, and they won't tell you where the money for their ads come from," Obama said.

Then Obama twice mentioned Rove by name at an Illinois rally, saying "two groups funded and advised by Karl Rove have outspent the Democratic Party 2 to1 in an attempt to beat" Democratic Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias.

Then the Democratic National Committee rolled out an ad accusing Rove, former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie and the Chamber of Commerce of "stealing our democracy."”

Ah, partisan self-righteous bickering. Re-inventing the shell game. Over and over and over. Where is the pea? Do you count the shells or the number of hands moving them per game?

I found this information interesting re: the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which despite it's name, is NOT any sort of government sanctioned agency but a conservative entity supporting and promoting Republican, Right Wing agenda items and the Republican Party's offspring, the TEA Party:

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce this week (the week ending October 7, 2010) is airing more than $10 million in advertising in some of the most competitive House and Senate races, a massive infusion by the business lobby against Democratic candidates in about 30 contests.

The amount is the single largest one-week expenditure by a group outside of the national political parties. It represents an escalation in ads by the chamber, which has expressed a goal of spending $75 million in this year's midterm elections.

The boost in spending comes as liberal groups raise questions about the chamber's financial sources. The Center for American Progress and MoveOn.org suggest the trade group could be using foreign money to air the ads, which would be illegal. The chamber denies the claim. It says money raised from foreign corporations is segregated from its political spending.

The chamber is not required to reveal the sources of its money.

As noted in the highlighted article, the monetary increase of political campaign donations occurred precisely after the news coverage of the Chamber of Commerce's membership and the dues it receives, including dues paid from foreign countries.

Not unlike trade unions and their international monies going before Obama for re-election and special considerations in government contracts. Not to mention the union lobbyist flooding the Obama whitehouse.>>>>> Sept.21, 2010>>>>>www.jsonline.com>>>>>State Republican Party officials filed complaints today with the state and county asking each to investigate a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union after he was caught on tape discussing plans to defeat Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker in the governor's race. John-david Morgan, who works full time for SEIU Local 1, was secretly recorded by a Walker staffer on a street corner outside an east side bar talking about his union's work with Democrats to take out the Republican nominee for governor. “This scandal shows you how desperate the Democrats and their special-interest friends really are over this election," said Mark Jefferson, executive director of the Republican Party. "The status quo is working out pretty well for them, even though it’s been a disaster for the rest of Wisconsin. But this coordinated plot runs completely counter to any standard of open and fair elections, and everyone involved needs to come clean." The complaint says Morgan described himself as a lobbyist but is not registered to lobby with the state or county. Morgan told No Quarter last week that he was planning to register soon. Republicans also charge that Supervisor John Weishan was using his office to try to help the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, in his election bid. >>>www.jsonline.com>>>

American trade unions and organized labor receiving foreign money that might help a political party, mainly the Democratic Party, the party most involved in helping domestic American workers keep jobs in America would seem not to be that bad.

Foreign money should be made to benefit as many Americans as possible as opposed to just that 2% of wealthy Americans. It's a safe bet they are not involved in any work where a union is required.

The conservatives, Republicans, TEA Party types, all blurring together, no surprise, as one in the same, have continually pushed for sending jobs overseas and it seems they are being rewarded by their foreign investors. It was the Republicans that recently defeated attempts to make companies accountable for shipping jobs overseas.

For now, any party, namely the Republican Party, dedicated to privatizing programs that help many Americans in need, BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT WORKING, while making sure any possible job investment money is sent off shore for foreign job creation, should not be rewarded with an opportunity to shaft American workers more efficiently by letting that party control either one of or both houses of Congress.

With the accusation from President Obama, he has correctly made transparent that Republicans and Big Business are opposing Obama and the American working public.

Because we know trade unions only exist for our benefit and never are involved in anything crooked. Union business equals good, non-union business equals evil . LOL. isn't language fun.
