Why is Barack Obama’s Brother Living in a Hut?
It appears Barack Obama is an unwitting victim of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s misinterpretation of the Holy Bible. Otherwise, we might not be reading headlines about the presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee ignoring the plight of relatives still living in African huts.
You might recall that, almost eight months ago, I asked the question, Why is ‘Grandma Obama’ Still Living in a Hut? That question surfaced after I learned of a statement Barack Obama made before a crowd of would-be voters in Coralville, Iowa:
“It’s that experience, that understanding, not just of what world leaders I went and talked to in the ambassadors house I had tea with, but understanding the lives of the people like my grandmother who lives in a tiny hut in Africa.”
This morning, the nearly-identical question serving as a headline above — Why is Barack Obama’s Brother Living in a Hut? — popped into my mind after reading an article in which was revealed the whereabouts of a long-lost half-brother of Barack Obama:
The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.
Now, back to the matter of Barack Obama being a victim of his former pastor’s errant teachings at Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago’s south side.
I suspect — and, mind you, this is my hunch and mine alone — that one or more of the black-liberation theology sermons Reverend Wright shared with members of his congregation (i.e., Barack Obama) over a period of more than 20 years contained at least one gross misinterpretation of Genesis 4:8-9.
Below is the accurate translation (New International Version) of those verses from the first book of the Holy Bible:
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
9 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”
“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
In the verses that followed, Cain learned that, indeed, he was his brother’s keeper. But because Reverend Wright’s misinterpretation of those verses did not include references to mothers or half-brothers and and despite having enormous resources at his disposal, Barack Obama believed he was not required to help support either of his hut-dwelling relatives in Africa.
