Hack Distribute Report #4 chris902 And Spammer

Photos

Some times I feel the world is full of Moran’s geared to just making money, their total respect for others is beyond belief.  They think they can ride rough shot over others just to make a buck or two on the internet.

Spammer seemingly have very low intelligence as they post on news and other  community sites with out even wondering if its not really appreciated by those that are serious about their internet community. It’s normally the attraction at a guess of free member ship and the readership on certain sites.

Interestingly though one site I know has a time period of assessment prior to new members are allowed full use of the owner site.  This would in fact be perfect to stop spammers but for the fact the site owner as allowed a gate way to direct assess by referral by existing members.  Amusing enough and logically expected a small percentage of spammers get access to spam.

I am racking my head how to really restrict spamming with a simple effective solution such as a web based trace and report system using IP addresses used by spammers. But that would be very complicated and not simple and would need money software development and organization.

At the moment I am in a throw it against the wall mode perhaps you the reader may have some suggestions that you may wish to throw at the wall also. Perhaps you unlike me these days are actively into software development and would love to see what is thrown at the wall.

Remembering: That IP Addresses can be changed, but one way these people change their IP addresses is using known dedicated servers. Another the use of know IP changing software.

Could there be some other way of trapping the spammer before they can spam, I really do like an initiation period before new members could publish idea that Newsvine uses but it needs to be strictly imposed. Perhaps a including learning the rules of the site and then a tick questionnaire test before a short quarantine period, then a trial period as a member that strictly observed?

Hey, does any one from any web community want to rebound ideas off my wall?  Please do as this is an open house debate, so please refer this article else where to friends that may be interested. Please be heard if you have had enough of these spammers!

I am sure there is a way to stop these cretins and its not the first time I have tried to come up and supply ideas to stop spam on the internet. The guy presently spamming nowpublic.com I bet could be stopped if he had to complete an IQ test before gaining membership, lol.  Lets face it its not very clever to place adverts where they are not wanted. There a thousands of free adds sites to post on.

But of course if he is on a vengence mission equally that shows low inteligence also.

Babel I spend and hour and half fighting a spammer from India yesterday morning.  Not only is it time wasting, it also screws with my daily download allowance, which is restricted due to satellite.  I agree there has to be a better way to fight these spammers.

Looking at what this guy from India is doing is pretty pointless as not many people using Nowpublic.com would want to go to India. The insult to members that they would want to use a prostitute service is clearly the indication the guys is upset with Nowpublic.com.  This guy of course the worst kind of troll and is acting like a 3 year old whom has lost his candy bar, lol

This type of problem is not just related to Nowpublic its been bothering all forms of web communities and forums. The special character and number gizmos stop or curb the automatic postings but not ones that can be done after registering an account. Of course many community owner can not afford the time to vet each posting or comment. And its a hard fight once these idiot get their foot in the door.

So a quarintine type method seems to be the only logical answer that makes it more of an effort for spammers as an additive to what is already being done.

I Agree!

Its frustrating to see useless threads pop up that no one is interested and is simply an advertisement.

Worst part: The spammers get similar points and ranks like genuine contributors...(Lol... :P) which makes me wonder if its a 1-min fame issue with such morons!

Even while posting this reply I know I am bound to get a spam mark hit! x-(...............Bingo! Got hit!

The issue of spam is one that is always front of mind here at NowPublic. It's always an uphill battle and one that we take seriously. Unfortunately, there are times when spammers hit the site harder than others. It's one of the unfortunate costs of being an online community that prides itself on being open to a wide array of contributors.

That being said, this is an issue we are acutely aware of and we are constantly working to reduce the amount of spam on the site.

May I suggest that future discussion take place in our forums, perhaps in a thread that Babel-Fish created

Jon thanks, most of know that spam is an issue on the mind of all responsible community owners and especially nowpublic of which is generally kept spam free. My own thoughts are not concerning just nowpuplic.com my article actually does not mention one community nor column but the problem on the web. However it does mention a site that I thought had the best solution but had then had left a door open for abuse.

What I am looking at is finding a solution from like minded people that are or where involved in programming and analysing or to spark web software developers in providing a good solution that could be used to solve this problem for service providers on the internet.

I can see why you responded as this being geared to Nowpublic only as the threads seeming point to that. Your site and the editor do, do a wonderful job but the problem is when your all sleeping in canadia abusers such as Rocky******* registers as a member and constantly abuses.  You and know he will be back even change his IP address.

There has to be a sensible logic and even simple answer of which not only could be suggested by a member here but from an outsider. Most of us that use the internet as a hobby and past time or for journalism are completely annoyed by these cretins. Rocky***** broke the last straw in my book and thats why I felt this issue needed deally with somebody will I am sure be able to provide a solution that web site and social community owners would see the sense in installing.
