Why the NRA doesn't represent gun owners

The NRA has opposed background checks on all gun purchases, do you know who agrees with them? Terrorists, in particular Al Qaeda terrorists. Al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn stated:

"America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms. You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle, without a background check, and most likely without having to show an identification card. So what are you waiting for?"

I hate to have to agree with a member of an organization that attacked our us on 9/11/2001, but he is right. As President Obama stated, about 40% of all gun sales in Ameria are by non-federally licened gun dealers or private sales. Indeed, at some gun shows, some gun sellers tell people (or have signs) telling would be buyers that they won't have to undergo a background check, knowing it would appeal to violent felons banned from possessing a gun.

Of course, violent felons barred from guns also buy guns this way. What, are we supposed to rely upon those convicted of the crimes of rape, burglary and even murder in some cases to pinky swear they won't illegally buy guns at one of these shows? Good luck with that.

Also, the NRA (a day before Obama stated his support for funding for armed security in schools to protect against this kind of violence) stated that President Obama is a hypocrite for having security (secret service) for his daughters at school while being skeptical about having armed security at schools for the children of other parents. First of all, Obama never stated he was skeptical of it, he believes (rightly) that it does not to far enough to curb gun violence.

The NRA attacked Obama for a position he did not have, because they fear and loathe the president. The NRA has also collected since 2005, $40 million from gun makers. Those with a vested interest in opposing an Assault Weapon Ban. As they say, follow the money. By the way, if there are more police in schools, I hope that behavior by students that ordinary gets a detention or suspension by students, don't become criminal offenses.

Also, to those who state that there was never a school shooting that would have been affected by a background check, the Columbine shooters got at least two of their weapons from an 18 year old student who bought them from a gun show. The student, Robyn Anderson stated that if she had sign her name when she bought them, she would never have done so.

Oh by the way on a separate issue, a Pastor Dave Buehner, of Christ the King Church in Larkspur, Co said on his radio show that his supposed god "hates homosexuals." Not homosexuality, but gays themselves. I will give him credit for honesty because when backed into a corner about their hate, anti-gay zealots will often state they are only talking about homosexuality and not gays themselves. Frankly, the idea that a god would hate someone for loving a person of the same sex, and not the opposite sex, is too stupid to waste time on.

Buenhner also stated, "I have never said that... 'I have many, many cannibal friends.' 'I have many, many molester friends.' Just pick the abomination." This nutjob believes that people who eat other people, or someone who molests children is the same as someone who loves another person of the same sex. Disgusting, but I will protect his right to be a disgusting homophobe to the day he dies.
