In the past few weeks, Republicans have claimed that universal healthcare will "kill people" and "kill babies."

Meanwhile, in the real world, universal health care has provided top notch medical care to the uninsured in the city of San Francisco.

Two years ago, the city of San Francisco launched the country’s first universal health care program, Healthy San Francisco. Today, almost 75% of previously uninsured residents are enrolled in the “public option” program. 44,249 people, at last count are now covered by the public plan. For many people, abandoned by corporate health care, this universal healthcare program has been a lifesaver.
