In the past few weeks, Republicans have claimed that universal healthcare will "kill people" and "kill babies."

Meanwhile, in the real world, universal health care has provided top notch medical care to the uninsured in the city of San Francisco.

Two years ago, the city of San Francisco launched the country’s first universal health care program, Healthy San Francisco. Today, almost 75% of previously uninsured residents are enrolled in the “public option” program. 44,249 people, at last count are now covered by the public plan. For many people, abandoned by corporate health care, this universal healthcare program has been a lifesaver.

Local OK.. National control- not OK. And it is not the republicans but the blue-dog democrats who are fiscally conservative.

Republicans cannot kill this bill. Blue-dog democrats can and maybe will.

Leading Blue Dog Democrat: Pelosi doesn't have the votes for health care reform.

ABC News' Jake Tapper and Z. Byron Wolf report:

How is health care reform progressing on Capitol Hill?

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., today insisted everything is smooth sailing with the House bill that would require every American to have health insurance or pay a fine; create a government run health plan to compete with private insurers to drive costs down; and impose an up to 5.4% new tax on top wage-earners.

“I have no question that we have the votes on the floor of the House to pass this legislation,” Pelosi told reporters.

But a leading conservative “Blue Dog” Democrat told ABC News that claim is questionable.

“No, I don’t think they have the votes,” Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., said, arguing if that were the case he and the other six Blue Dogs on the House Energy and Commerce Committee who have been holding up the bill in committee would be under far less pressure.

So Roy, are you on the record as supporting socialized healthcare as long the local government controls it?

Like the greedy Republicans, the Blue Dogs get tons of donations from the health industry, they need to be voted out and replaced with real Democrats.
