Why Should People of Color vote Republican
By Albert N. Milliron, Editor, Politisite.com, Iron Mill Interactive Media, Inc
In this election 9 out of 10 Blacks Nation wide will vote for Obama I wonder what MLK (a Republican) would say? Many Whites are voting for Obama but Blacks continue to Vote along race and party lines.
Lets take a selected look at history.
It was Republican that Emancipated the Slaves, It was Republicans who were against the Jim Crow and Poll taxes, It was Democrats who stood in front of schools trying to keep Blacks out (Wallace). It was Republican President Eisenhower also appointed Chief Justice Warren who was instrumental in overturning Brown vs. Board of Education.
Kennedy voted against the Civil rights Act while he was a Senator. Attorney General Kennedy, wiretapped MLK investigating him by the FBI on suspicion of being a Communist.
Senator Byrd, called MLK a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward. Dr. King was Killed in Memphis shortly after.
In conclusion, I wonder why Black American's continue to support a party who has done little but make promises every election season and then never follow up with legislation that is helpful; t them. Democrats have been giving lip service to Blacks every election season. I wonder are you better off voting Democrat?
Obama doesn't seem to be concerned about the poor. If you take notice to his speeches, he rarley talks about black issues of the working poor. His focus is on the middle class. Are most Blacks Middle class?
A Quick Quiz: Which US President provided the Most Money to Africa during his Term in Office? A. Clinton, B. Bush

JC WATTS ran for congress in his state and failed. He went on to say that he will not re-run for office because he believes that people should only run once. He believes thats whats hurting america to day.

JC Watts bailed out after encountering a glass ceiling in the Republican party.

I tend to agree with you. Something that the Republican Party has been working on changing. You must know the Bush white house was the most colorful in history. Now when Clinton had a few people of color we heard about it all the time. Bush never seems to get credit for his action in Africa where he quadrupled aide over Clinton... But Clinton was the first black president right?

Yes, it is for real, especially the past couple years. There is some major restructuring in the Party coming soon and all that will be over and gone.

Do you benefit from the Bush tax break?
All I can say is, thank God I can afford to pay them. Once I paid over $30 million in taxes over two years. I was so proud!
Obviously, he is not patriotic in Sarah Palin's definition of patriotism.
Harry Truman integrated the armed services. Lyndon Johnson passed the voting rights act.
Since the Sixties, most of the folks in the South who made the Democratic Party the party of Jim Crow have bolted to the GOP, thanks in large to the "Southern stratgy". Hence, it is very unlikely that Dr. King would still be a Republican.
I am sure I am leaving out both good examples of Republicans and bad examples of Democrats, as you did in the reverse.

Thanks for your insightful comment to this story. BTW Johnson signed the act into law. It was many good democrats and republicans who voted for it in the Congress which passes the laws. What gets me is that Sen. Biden talks about paying taxes as Patriotism. What I think is more Partriotic is giving to those in need. Something Biden doesn't think is important, when over the last 10 years he has given and avg of 300.00 per year to charity.
Regarding paying taxes. I would bet the years you payed over 30 million in taxes you were able to hire more employees and have additional workers. Obama keeps saying that Trickle down doesn't work. We both know when we are making the most money, we have disposable income to hire additional employees. When I was doing my best I had a maid, yard worker, a house in the mountains, hired folks to improve both the house and the cabin. Now, I do not have the same income, I do most repairs myself and rarly hire workers. The reason is not about Bush, it is about being medically retired.
So when tax cuts are given to the rich, that additional money instead of going to a Government whos middle name is waste goes to hire folks, buying things, making improvements all using American workers. Why would you want 30 million of your dollars to go to the government, when that money could be used locally to do the things I mentioned

I would bet the years you payed over 30 million in taxes
I didn't say that. It was in your story. Your hero the unpatriotic Mr. King said it. I wonder how much of that trickled down?
As you - again - are misrepresenting, perhaps by accident, what Biden said. He said it was time for the wealthy - the Paris Hiltons and their ilk - to pony up some of the wealth they have been amassing from the tax cuts and pay their fair share. He also said it is unpatriotic to allow the wealthy to hide their assets in offshore accounts and not pay taxes on them.
More to the point, why are we in the mess we are in after record tax cuts to the wealthy over the last 20 years?
Trickle down is a lie and a fraud.

yes, I did know the full context of what Biden was talking about in that interview. Trickle down worked in the 80s-90s. The mess we are in is not associated with the mess on wall street and mortgages. Poor oversight, integration of banks to investment banks. Groups like ACORN pushing finacical institutions to provide NINJA loans to folks who could not possibly pay back. Companies cooking the books so thier book value appears higher then it really is. Debt to equity ratios misrepresetned. There are many reasons for the mess we are in. George Bush has a good deal of the blame as well. I will be glad to see him go. Congress has a great deal of fouht as well. Frank, Dodd and others keot syaing that there was no Problem with Fannie/freddie when John McCain, who had requested some inquiryies and was met with blocks on both Republican and Democrat sides. All in all congress spent money like crazy. There are only a few real fiscal conservaives left. So a lot of your statements about this administration is true.
