Why is the US outfitting Afghan air force?
The story is that the US government is buying Russian-made helicopters for the Afghan air force.
First, the US government should not be “buying” military gear for the Afghanis as they should be doing it themselves. Second, we should not care that they are Russian helicopters. In this instance, the M17 Russian helicopter was designed for use in Afghanistan. It is easier to fly and repair than American helicopters that are more sophisticated.
The USA may be back knocking them out of the skies someday, so let it be an inferior product.
American needs to get out of nation building at once. I didn’t vote for that, did you?

The U.S. government is snapping up Russian-made helicopters to form the core of Afghanistan's fledgling air force, a strategy that is drawing flak from members of Congress who want to force the Afghans to fly American choppers instead. “
To top it off, there is another story today about 17 Afghan pilots in training who fled a US Air Force base and are not at large somewhere in the country. The USAF lost them.
