Bradley Manning U.S. Intelligence Analyst Arrested in Wikileaks Iraq Video Probe

A 22 year old United States Intelligence analyst, SPC Bradley Manning, has been arrested in connection with the Wikileaks Iraq video leak which showed a deadly helicopter attacked that killed several innocent civilians.

Bradley Manning from Potomac, Maryland is reportedly being held in Kuwait. Reports say Manning was arrested two weeks ago at Forward Operating Base Hammer, east of Baghdad.

Manning was turned in late last month by a former computer hacker with whom he spoke online. In the course of their chats, Manning took credit for leaking a headline-making video of a helicopter attack that Wikileaks posted online in April. The video showed a deadly 2007 U.S. helicopter air strike in Baghdad that claimed the lives of several innocent civilians.

Wikileaks is a website to disclosing classified government documents from all over the world. The Wikileaks Iraq video captures a July 2007 helicopter attack the resulting in the death of 12 people including a Reuters cameraman.

Manning DID NOT initiate the conversation with Lamo...A probable-source investigation had already targeted Bradley Manning in 2009...enter the US Gov's pet hacker, Lamo.Adrian Lamo has been an active informant to the US Gov since 2004, and was eager to prove his worth, especially since nobody worth their salt was talking to him anymore.

Thanks for this story.  I watched this video a moth or so ago and was upset by the poor identification methods they used.  Then killing folks who came to pick up an injured person.

While I understand that these videos are at times a matter of national security, I can see why he released the tape.  Innocent people died and it should not be taken lightly.  There are many journalists in the field who have cameras with zoom lens... It was not hard to see that the man had a camera and not a weapon.
