Lawyer Gail Davidson Files Police Complaint: Tom Flanagan, Julian Assange Assassination Comments On CBC Evan Solomon Power Politics Show
A British Columbia lawyer, Gail Davidson is asking police to investigate comments made by University of Calgary professor, Tom Flanagan, according to various news reports.
Tom Flanagan, appearing on Power Politics on the CBC said Wikileaks founder Julian Assange should be "assassinated," suggesting President Obama use a" predator drone to take out" Julian Assange.
Gail Davidson, a lawyer and prominent anti-war activist says Tom Flanagan's comments on Power and Politics should be treated seriously.
Davidson alleged that statement qualifies as a breach of s. 464 of the Criminal Code, which says counselling an offence, regardless of whether it is committed, can be punished by a sentence similar to what's attached to the actual offence.
Tom Flanagan, was a former Chief of Staff to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, when Harper was the leader of the opposition. Shortly after the airing of the Power and Politics episode Tom Flanagan issued a statement he regretted his statements.
