Press TV, Zimbabwe electoral deadlock continues
Michael Jackson in his album "Thriller" recorded the song with the catchy verse "Do You Wanna Be Startin Somethin?" Many people are asking the same question in Southern Africa. Is it true that the MDC is concerned about a passport instead of lasting peace as suggested by the Mugabe Camp? Many are wandering if Mugabe is planning a constitutional coup.

According to an article from Xinhua, Anna Kahari who is the National Programmes Officer for Zimbabwe Lawyers for Justice has expressed her disappointment and disillusion with the MDC and Morgan Tsvangerai. The reason has been the decision by Morgan Tsvangerai to ask for a passport in order to travel to the talks aimed at resolving the impasse.

Miss Kahari also stated that <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Zimbabwe is being held hostage to the MDC and Tsvangerai and declared that MDC is losing an opportunity for the resolution of the current Zimbabwe problem. Miss Kahari further proposed that Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe should “form a government and declare a state of emergency”.The Chairman of the Zimbabwe National War Veterans' Association Jabulani Sibanda has echoed the sentiments of Ms. Kahari and is urging President Mugabe to appoint a Cabinet and form a New Government.

Deputy Minister of Information and Publicity and Zanu-PF Mhondoro-Ngezi legislator Cde Bright Matonga has urged the opposition to think about the country and warned that no one was bigger than the people of Zimbabwe and that the “opposition should go to the negotiating table” instead "of waffling in the Press”. Mr. Gibson Chidzenga and Samson Gweru have taken MDC and Tsvangerai to task by saying he snubbed the King of Swaziland when the King offered his private jet to take him. Mr. Chidzenga and Mr. Gweru have also suggested that Mugabe form a government since “Tsvangerai is not fit to govern”.

The Progressive Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Raymond Majongwe added that if “Mugabe and Ian Smith could dialogue, what could prevent the two sons of the soil from resolving the problems of Zimbabwe?” What will be coming next from Mugabe’s Camp and from the MDC?  Is Mugabe using diversion tactics to obtain power? Is the MDC not looking at the bigger picture of resolving the Zimbabwe Election Impasse? Again, this has been a never ending soap opera in which the only victims have been the people of Zimbabwe.
