Wisconsin Recall Elections: August 9, 2011
Voters in six Wisconsin districts are casting their ballots in a recall election on August 9. the Wisconsin recall elections are basically a referendum on Governor Scott Walker's anti-labor policies. Polls close at 8pm CT (6pm PT/9pm ET). Six Republican senators are at risk of joining the unemployment line:
- Robert Cowles
- Alberta Darling
- Sheila Harsdorf
- Randy Hopper
- Dan Kapanke
- Luther Olsen
If four out of the six senators lose their seats, the Democrats will gain a majority in the Wisconsin State Senate. These are entrenched Republican districts; in order to overcome that obstacle, the Dems will need the one thing that their party historically lacks: voter turnout.
Three Democrats were targeted in recall elections. Dave Hansen retained his seat in a July 19 election; Robert Wirch and Jim Holperin face recall elections on August 16.
Scott Walker himself will be watching the results closely: he could be facing a recall election in 2012, and has already started raising money just in case. Walker could always get in touch with David Koch, but would have to make sure that he was talking to the real one.

You need to read real history; the history of the hard work, the blood sweat and tears of children, maimed, because they had to toil in factories; of all workers working 12 hour days; of the lives lost because of appalling working conditions, etc. Don't be a corporate drone. They have you right where they want you. It is quite apparent that you believe ordinary working people are your enemy.(I seriously doubt you are a billionaire CEO). I am sure you are a hard-working person and you better believe that if they can cut your job, they will. I also might remind you that you could possibly get sick someday with a terrible disease, and if that happens your health insurance company might just deny you coverage...it happens all the time and the only people that will fight for you are the PEOPLE.

Dems' failure to address issue of electronic voting and lack of a voter-verifiable paper trail came home to roost last night in Wisconsin. Fair elections appear to be a vestige of a more innocent America. Google, watch, HBO documentary, "Hacking Democracy," and Robin Williams movie "Man of the Year."
