Bob Wirsch and Jim Holperin Survive Recall Election

Democratic incumbents Bob Wirsch and Jim Holperin have survived the August 16 recall elections.

Wisconsin Government Accountability Board: Results Posting (update pending at time of this post)

Bob Hirsch and Jim Holperin were among the Wisconsin Democrats who left the state in protest of Governor Scott Walker's "budget repair bill".

Due to the results of the August 9 recall elections, Wisconsin Republicans still control the state Senate, 17-16. The GOP lost a bit of ground, starting the summer with a 19-14 advantage. Governor Scott Walker is, at this point, surely expecting to fight for his job in 2012. Walker's anti-labor bill kicked off recall fever in Wisconsin, and will challenge the allegiances of working-class Republicans come election day.
