Woman to be tried as adult for molestation committed as a child
If a child 10 years old commits molestation of younger children and is not found out to have committed these acts until she is 19, should she be tried as an adult? Well, one young woman in the Milwaukee area is going to face that fact. If a child turns 17 and the molestation hasn't been revealed at that point, then that person will be automatically charged as an adult. The law does not allow any room on this in Wisconsin.
What if the person wasn't 10, but 8, when he or she committed the act? Also, should the government try as an adult a 19 year old who is found on video to have stolen an ice cream bar when he or she was 10? Why molestation is a much more serious offense then theft, the principle remains.
A 19 year old, along as they aren't mentally ll, isn't the same person as that 10 year old who might have committed molestation. The fact is that sex offenders lists are full of people who really shouldn't be on them I don't know if this young woman, even if guilty, should be on such a list.
In Great Britain, the conservative government of Prime Minister David Cameron (a supporter of gay marriage showing the divide between conservatives in the U.S. and the U.K.) is going to clamp down on online pornography. Filters will be mandatory in the U.K., and you will have to opt out of using them. Simulated violent sex scenes will be banned.
The idea is that they encourage rape, though they might actually do the very opposite by giving an outlet to certain types of men.
David Cameron is not Robert Bork, the conservative hero on the far right-wing who didn't believe in personal liberties, but this deserves watch. Many people detest pornography, even Playboy type pornography.
They believe it creates social harms, though it does seem that porn in fact reduces such things as violent sexual assaults by allowing outlets in lieu of violent aggression. Public policy should be based on reason and not fears and emotion.
