A two-year old toddler was stabbed 100 times with scissors and strangled with an electric cord by her mother.

A US woman who believed she was being stalked by a cult has been charged with stabbing her two-year-old daughter 100 times with scissors, her lawyer and police have said, and can be heard yelling "Die! Die!" on an emergency call.

Susan Johnson's screams can be heard on the call made by a security guard who helped to subdue her in a laundry room at a block of flats on Wednesday night.

Johnson, 38, from Turner Falls near Boston, also used an electrical cord from a dryer to try to strangle the toddler, police said, but the security guard and two residents separated mother and child just before police arrived.

Police spokesman Neil Erickson said the child had as many as 100 wounds to her head, neck and torso.

The child was taken to hospital and is expected to survive. She is in the custody of state child welfare authorities

The girl had as many as 100 wounds to her head, neck and torso, but many were superficial, police spokesman Neil Erickson said.

The child, who is in the custody of state child welfare authorities, was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Thank goodness the wee soul survived from the injuries, but I fear the mental anquish will be awful for a child so young. The mother must be very mentally ill poor soul.

I agree Jazzyzazzy, the psychological trauma this child has gone through is too much and a child should not have to go through such trauma and pain. It's a blessing the child survived.

She should never get out.

Hope she gets the help she needs Mary. This is just a horrible thing to happen to a child.

Hopefully the kids brain will kick into survival mode and just blank it out, going through so much trauma, she'll probably just not remember what happened, aside from what people tell her.  I hope for that, that would be a much needed blessing for the poor baby.
