In a wonderful example of Republican logic, Sen. Tom Coburn told a weeping woman that his government office would help her, then lectured her on how government was not the solution.
CNN’s Rick Sanchez aired a segment from a health care town hall where a weeping constituent explained to Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) that her husband’s health insurer refuses to cover his treatment for a traumatic brain injury. As the woman continued to cry, Coburn told her that his office would try to assist her individually. But, he added, “the idea that the government is the solution to our problems is an inaccurate, a very inaccurate statement.”

I felt badly for the lady who was in obvious anguish, then to hear the Senator imperviously lecturing to her was just so cold of him.   So much for human compassion!

And the audience actually applauded him... amazing. I hope she and her husband move to Canada, they will be healthier and happier.

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: Senator Tom Coburn joins us live. Senator, is there something you can do to help this woman, or can we help this woman or -- or what -- how do you respond to this?

SEN. TOM COBURN, M.D., R - OKLA.: Well, sure, we can help her. But remember, the first obligation is for her neighbors and us to help her here in Oklahoma. And we need reforms and we're going to get reforms, but the answer is not having the government in control of those reforms.

And so she immediately -- I invited her up to my office, and my case worker started working with her, and we'll help her and her husband. But the fact is, is one of the things that makes our country great is that we, as individuals, should be helping everybody around us, rather than transferring that to the responsibility of the government. And the government's never compassionate.

And that lady got everybody's heart in our town hall meeting, and I'll guarantee you the city of Oklahoma City's going to pick that lady up and her husband and help her. That's without a government program.

As CNN's Rick Sanchez said, Tom Coburn is a Senator of the US government, if he helps her, that's government helping her. Do you follow the logic?

Whether or not she gets actual help from anyone remains to be seen.

People want to believe the Government is God and can fix all their troubles.  The Government  will assist when possible but it cannot stop people from dying.  Death is inevitable and to think the Government is responsible for all of people's tragedies is absurd.  Family, friends and  church are supposed to give this woman comfort and support.  Doctors cannot either.

Government is the left's religiion

Government has given lawmakers universal health care for decades, government (under Bush) gave the Iraqis universal health care in March of 2004, government heath care saved John McCain's life, that's why he is a cancer survivor.

No one ever suggested government or doctors could prove immortality and no one on the "left" has ever suggested such a preposterous notion.

To state that a doctor could not help her husband, is simply not true.  her problem, as she stated, is not lack of medical knowledge, that's there, the problem is health care is too expensive.
