Woolworths employees in Jersey have launched a petition after being told they will not receive redundancy pay. Apparently the 120 staff have been told that UK statutory redundancy payouts do not apply on the Channel Islands.

According to the Jersy Advisory and Conciliation Service Website [ JACS ] some larger Organisations DO OPERATE a Redundancy Policy in Jersey and under the Employment Law 2003, a “STATEMENT” must be made as to whether or not a redundancy scheme exists.

Given that the Woolworths Employees are launching a petition on “now” being told that they will not receive redundancy pay one must conclude from this that they where not aware that redundancy pay would not be paid when taking up employment with Woolworths in Jersey. Indeed have they signed employment contracts to the effect that they are not entitled to redundancy pay?.

Your first paragraph is pretty much word for word with the BBC article. Can you amend that please?

We also have a version of the story already here.
