Deceptive Beijing Computer Firewooks 2008 Olympics

de·cep·tion: trick <a clever deception> synonyms deception - fraud, double-dealing, subterfuge, trickery... means the acts or practices of one who deliberately deceives.

All the way down to the jiggling camera shot to make the fireworks images appear as if they were being shot with a hand held camera from a government sanctioned helicopter circling overhead - 200 Chinese computer graphics artists worked over a year to produce the duped fireworks display for the 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. This fireworks footage was released to all the worldwide press organizations officially from the Beijing Chinese government. Did I mention the young Chinese child singer Lin Miaoke with the amazing voice that supposedly sang "Ode to the Motherland"- she actually had her voice dubbed by another voice trained surrogate Yang Pelyl.

NP member John Carey is in China. John's online, or at least he was a few minutes ago. You could just ask if he actually saw fireworks of the level we saw on TV. Ditto Robert Scales when he comes back online.

Where is the deception? They announced that much of the fireworks were computer-generated during the Opening cememony.

Computer-generated is different than "computer images." You can generate and control fireworks with various computer programs. Many displays of similar types, including dancing water works at various tourist sites, are done that way.

But if they showed all those fireworks all over the city and they were only images, not actual fireworks, then they were deceptive. I watched the opening ceremonies and it was presented as actual fireworks, IMHO.

Is this from your own blog? If not, you need to use the highlight tool.

I think you could actually tell which ones were 'computer-generated' from actual fireworks by the clouds of smoke around them. Bet many were thankful, as it would only add to air-quality problems.

Well... I will interested in the new reports and investigation that broke just before the Summer Olympics ended about new evidence that the Chinese Women Gymnists were under age in which they sure looked it !
