Once shown in Discovery Channel similar to the same incident which is stoped by a simple method. there is a principle where the blast effect can blow off the fire from the fire source. the steps are producing a huge amount of explosives eg 20 kgs of Dynamite covered in a four to five fold of thick wet coverings in a long lader or crane to the actual firing spot where the explosive blasts and the fire will flew off.Stephen

The authorities have done nothing of the sort and gave up efforts saying that after all the inflammable fuels in the tanks like Diesel, Kerosene burn out completely the flames get automatically exhausted. It is a pity that the fire is still raging and that no body here in India thought of fighting the fire with the method you mentioned

The method told above is applicable only if the fire is approachable. We can't even imagine the destructive effect and volume of fire happened. When ever oil is under fire, the best way is to prevent it from spreading to other areas. Just make the surrounding cool or inaccessable to fire. Now what required is a sincere investigation of what happened and how.
