Wounded people are left to die in the streets

A wounded ethnic Tamil mother is lying in the roadside in Vanni in the northern region of Sri Lanka. Vanni is in the rebel controlled area. All the international aid agencies have been expelled by the Sri Lankan Sinhalese government. The last remaining hospital in the area was closed as of March 16, 2009 due to medical shortage. Every day, some 50 people die due to government shelling and hundreds become wounded. There are some 250,000 people believe to be in the area. Apart from the shelling and bombardments people are reported to die out of hunger and dieses such as kolara.
