Now new details in the case reveal that just a few days before Love was found dead, the couple argued and she hit him over the head with her purse. It is not known what the argument was about, but Love lost her camera and phone at this time and was never able to get her phone back.

One of Love's sorority sister's told authorities that she witnessed an "altercation" between her friend and Huguely during which "Love hit Huguely with her purse" hard enough to cause all of its contents to be strewn about his apartment.

Police also have a redacted e-mail between the two that is said to show the sometime couple discussing their recent break-up.

George Huguely is said to be showing intense remorse for what happened and he has always maintained that the killing was a tragic mistake. He has confessed that the kicked in Yeardley's bedroom door that fateful night, then shook her violently and repeatedly banged her head against the wall. She was found face down in her room in a pool of blood with lacerations on her face.

University of Virginia Changes Disclosure Policy

Students now attending the University of Virginia will be required to disclose if they have ever been arrested or convicted of a crime the first time they log on to the internal website, and school officials say they hope this will improve campus security.

"What we discovered is we had a policy in place since 2004 requiring students to self-disclose issues they had with the law," said Groves. "But we know, for example, in the case of Mr. Huguely there was no self-disclosure."

A new program called 'Get Grounded' has also been launched to educate students on helping each other if they think their peers may be in trouble.

Huguely had a number of prior arrests, but these were not known to the school after after Love's death.
