The vigil will be open to the public and will begin at 8pm at the McIntire Amphitheater. It will be a time for friends, family and anyone else who wants to come to honor the memory of Yeardley Love, the lacrosse player who was killed early Monday morning. Fellow UVa student George Huguely has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to her death.

According to the Charlottesville Daily Progress, Yeardley Love was going to graduate later this month with a major in government and a minor in Spanish. Her memorial has been organized by the UVa Student Council.

This is a difficult time for our community,” said Colin Hood, Student Council president, in a statement. “The violent death of fourth-year student Yeardley Love has left her many friends, classmates, and teammates grief-stricken. Many of us are in shock as to how such an act could occur.

Did Yeardley Love Receive Death Threats Before She Died?

On May 4 details started to emerge that Yeardley Love may have received death threats before she died and that George Huguely took her computer from her home and tried to destroy it after he left her house.

Huguely has admitted to communicating with Love via e-mail but he has not made a public statement about any death threats. He is being held in jail until his hearing on June 10 and has dropped out of school.

He says Love's death was an accident, but does admit to kicking down her door, shaking her and hitting her head against the wall repeatedly.
