Ali Abdullah Saleh Injured in Yemen Shelling Attack

Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh was wounded, along with several others, in an attack on his presidential palace compound. No group has claimed responsibility for the shelling attack, though the Yemeni government is blaming the attack on tribesmen loyal to dissident Sheikh Sadiq al-Ahmar.

Initial reports out of Yemen said that Saleh was killed in the attack, but that is apparently not true. Saleh is yet to make a public statement, though, which makes us wonder what sort of injury he sustained.

Earlier in the day, Saleh's security forces attacked the home of Hamid Ahmar, one of the dissident group's leaders.

Aside from conflict with the dissident group, Saleh's government is making plenty of enemies among the general citizenry, as it cracks down more and more violently against pro-reform demonstrators.
