Liberty Square: Tents Burned, Protesters Shot as Troops Crack Down

Ali Abdullah Saleh's troops cleared Liberty Square in the Yemeni city of Taiz, which had been occupied for months by pro-democracy protesters. At least 20 protesters were killed in the attacks.

Video footage has emerged of snipers firing on the protesters, as well as footage of the demonstrators' tents being burned.

Demonstrators had occupied Liberty Square for four months. Ali Abdullah Saleh has resisted calls for his resignation, and his reaction to pro-reform protests has grown more and more brutal.
