Young Lee: Pinkberry Co-Founder Arrested for Beating Homeless Man
Pinkberry Founder Young Lee Arrested after Attacking Transient over 'Explicit Tattoo'
Pinkberry yogurt chain co-founder Young Lee was arrested for assault on January 16 for allegedly beating up a homeless man with a tire iron. According to prosecutors, Young Lee was offended by the homeless man's "sexually explicit tattoo". However, it was not revealed exactly what the tattoo said or depicted.
However, that's beside the point: Jumping out of your car, chasing a homeless guy, and beating him up with a tire iron (as Young Lee and his friend are accused of doing) is not a civilized response to seeing any sort of tattoo.
What Did the Homeless Man's Tattoo Say?
Still, we're left wondering what this tattoo was, for Lee to feel quite so "disrespected". the alleged assault took place in June 2011 as Lee and a friend were stopped at a red light in Los Angeles. The homeless man approached the car and asked for money. After some sort of verbal exchange, Young Lee (a former kickboxer) and his friend pursued the man and allegedly attacked him.
"This case is emblematic of how the homeless are among the most vulnerable in our society," said Vernon, commanding officer of the Central Detective Division. The extent of the homeless man's injuries hasn't been disclosed.
Detectives spent several months probing the case against Lee, who was in South Korea for part of that time.
