Zimbabwe's Nervous Breakdown, Probable Coup, and Civil War
The World Food Programme which is the food agency for the UN has decided to cut off funds to Zimbabwe citing a lack of funds. The spokesperson for the World Food Programme has warned that the situation will worsen. At the time of this article, there are people who are living off of one food a day with people going to the rural areas for wild fruits and food.
It appears that both the government and opposition are trying to find a way to resolve the issues that arose after a power sharing deal. Kwapi V of Now Public has reported that there are people who are losing patience with Mugabe and that the possibility of some coup has been upgraded to probable.
The Zimbabwe Independent has reported that the Mining Sector has al but collapsed. The Mining Companies are now unable to pay over $30 Million US Dollars owed to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe's woes have been compounded by the crisis in its Health Care System which has left hospitals without surgical beds and medicine. It can only get worse. Steve Miller once sang a verse in the song "Jet Airliner" which was: "You got to get to hell before you get to heaven". Zimbabwe has been going from bad to worse. Only time will tell what will happen.
I cannot stand back and do nothing as the people of Zimbabwe are dying because of the lack of food and health care. The blame does not lie on the so called Western Powers imposing sanctions. The blame is to be placed on Robert Mugabe and his controversial 2000 agrarian reform laws that increased polarization and has created the state of affairs that is inherent in his country.
